What is an EPC?
An EPC (Energy Performance Rating) is used to measure the energy efficiency of a property. These ratings were introduced in homes in 2007 (1) and for non-dwellings in 2008 (2).
EPC’s are a legal requirement for a building to be sold, let or constructed. They are intended to inform potential buyers or tenants about the energy performance of the building. This is important as they can consider energy efficiency as part of their investment or business plan when deciding to buy or occupy that building. (2).
